Site Filter Information

The Florida Department of Education contract for Web Content Filtering is with Hayes Computers. The FIRN2 network utilizes the the services provided by the Florida Dept. of Education contract with Hayes Computers to provide content filtering for those organizations on the FIRN network needing to be filtered.

Websense has approximately 100 categories, similar to other products such as 8e6 and N2H2. The central filtering equipment uses a default policy that denies approximately the same categories as the previous 8e6 filter servers. See the document below for the default Websense policies.

How can I check to see if a specific site is in the filtered central database?

To test a URL to determine whether it exists in the central database and
if so what category it matches. Use the following URL: www.websense.com/sitelookup

Where do I send filter change requests?

Websense maintains a web page to allow end users to suggest additions to
their database or recatagorize a web page at the following URL: www.websense.com/suggestachange
(The form has a field asking for your version of Websense software. We are currently using version 5.2 on the central filter servers.)
